Seasonal Survival Guide for Teen Girls

This is my final product of my magazine:

CCR: Questions

Image
I wanted to finish answering my questions for my CCR.  I looked at some ideas of how I can start my CCR. I looked at some CCRs from years ago so I can get a clue of what I should do. I wanted to start off describing what my magazine is about so the audience knows everything they need to about the magazine so I can get started on the questions. I took me a few days to do all of the questions. At one point I had to redo question 4 because it wasn't long enough. I made a few paragraphs for each question. Some of the questions had a few other questions in that one part. So, I added more to those answers. I stayed on topic and tried to focus on each question directly. I added on to make it longer.

CCR: Editing app difficulties

Image
After I was done with my voiceover, I wanted to add some pictures to add to my CCR. I looked on the Google for some apps I can use for that type of editing. It said an app called InShot can be used for adding pictures. After I downloaded the video off of CapCut I put it into InShot. I had my pictures I wanted to add ready in my camera roll. I tried to add the pictures, but it wouldn't work the way I wanted it to. It would just add a clip of the picture in the video. I wanted it directly on the video clip. I decide to not include that idea and just leave it as is.

CCR: Voiceover

Image
For the voiceover part of my CCR I answered all of my questions and put them in a document I can read off of for my voiceover. I made videos of me talking for each question. I paused for each question when I would mess up so I can later fix them by editing it. I used I little microphone that attached to my phone. It was a helpful because it would only focus on my voice and leave out the background noise. Before I put them into CapCut I edited each part, so you can't hear the part I messed up on. I would just cut out the part where I would mess up on the photo's app on my phone.  After I finished editing it, I put each video into CapCut combining them into one audio voiceover.

CCR- Audio

Image
For my CCR I have 2 different audio devices. The first one is a used audio. Since I was talking over the video you couldn't hear the waves so, I just put a 10-minute audio of waves instead. I found the 10-minute video of waves on TikTok I tried on YouTube, but it wouldn't let me download it. I made the volume low because I wanted you to hear me answer the questions.   I put the volume of the original video all the way down to zero as well. The only part that I didn't lower was the end clip, of me speaking in the original video.

CCR- Transitions

Image
For each clip I couldn't add them together, so I just put transitions which make it look more put together. There was a big selection of different kinds of transitions, and I just chose the ones that fit with each video and just for how I wanted it to look like.

Editing CCR: Pre- Production

Image
I started editing my CCR, as said I will be editing on CapCut! I started by first taking my first clip that I filmed walking to the beach. I put it into Snapchat and made it into time lapse then saved it to my phone because I originally filmed it in regular time. I was ready to put all 3 clips into CapCut. When I put all the clips together, I had to clip out some parts that I didn't want. For example, when my friends were getting up from the sand, they wanted me to remove them getting up and that's what I did. It does look like I cut it off, but I tried to not make it as noticeable.

Fixed blurry photos

Image
I went over on a previous blog how I couldn't find the problem to my blurry cover page. Today I found the problem to my photo being blurry on my cover page and can disregard my plan to have a blurry cover page. Before I didn't have a problem with it, but I had to turn in the official draft of my magazine to my teacher and found out it was even more blurry when I turn it into a PDF and see it as a regular size. I tried to figure out the problem and came to the conclusion that the problem was when I would email the photos onto my mom's laptop through my phone, I would choose the picture to be in a size small instead of actual size. My mom would receive the photo smaller than it should be making the pixels become blurry. For page 3 of my magazine, I also did the same thing, making the Tennessee mountain photos become blurry. I also changed that making it clearer than before.

Finding an editing app

Image
To edit my CCR I need to find an advance editing app. The CCR will need a lot of transitions, cuts and audio precision. My first idea was to use iMovie because I used it a few years ago to edit different videos. I wasn’t sure if I still knew how to use it, but I was going to give it a try. After downloading iMovie, I played around with the app seeing what i can use to edit my CCR. Nothing caught my eye that can help my vision come true. I deleted that app and was trying to find a new one that made my expectations. I found the app Cap cut, while roaming around in the app store. It’s v ery popular for editing. I thought I would give it a try. So I downloaded it and it’s pretty easy to use and has everything I needed to create my vision of my CCR. It would be a great way to edit my CCR without many complications.

Final product: Interview, page 5

Image
I finally completed the last page of my magazine! I did what I intended and quoted some of the estheticians' words but, added my input as well. I quoted what was more important to acknowledge. The first question is way longer than the other ones because it had multiple answers, and the other ones just had one straight up answer. I made it colorful, bold and I also played around with the effects because the template I used was very formal, so I tried to make it as teen girl as possible. I added my fun fact and made it stand out. I had to adjust the words a bit for it to make more sense. I didn't know whether I should keep the background plain or add color, but I decided to keep it as is, I didn't want it to be chaotic. I added the photos I took, and I was done. This is the final product!  Although it was difficult making the magazine I had a lot of fun!

Adding to page 5

Image
On page 5 of the interview, I wanted to add a little bonus, such as a fun fact. Something teenage girls don't usually know. It would be a little fact in a bold and outstanding font. I wanted to do something about skin since it's the whole page is about skin. Although my magazine is about the differences of skincare according to the season, I wanted to do a general one. Something neutral for both sides something that needs to be brung up more by skincare specialists. I talked to my mom for what I can do then I searched online. Then I thought of the perfect fact! I wrote it down in my notes, so I don't forget.

Structuring the interview page

Image
When first starting on page 5 I wanted to construct the page with 3 big paragraphs in the middle and a few photos on the side. So, I tried finding a template on Canva that matched with the image in my head. Couldn't really find one that fit the image, but I found something close.  This is the one I chose. I changed it up a little bit by deleting that little section on the bottom left. I only had 2 pictures, which fit perfectly with my magazine.

Interviewing esthetician- production process

Image
I took a photos of my mom, the esthetician i’m interviewing for my interview page. She already been to work so she already had her scrubs on. It helped for a more professional manner. I took it on my phone in portrait mode to make it more business-like. I took several photos of her standing up with a white background  but it didn’t pan out. So, we decided to take a photo of her sitting down with a hectic background. It looked even better than the original idea and decided to go with that one! Since I want two photos on my magazine page, I needed another one .   I went to work with my mom and one of her clients, a family friend, let me take a photo while she was doing his facial for the interview page in my magazine!

Page 5- Change of plans

Image
I've decided to dismiss page 5 of my magazine. This has been thought about for a couple of weeks and came to the conclusion to let it go. The reason being to take the time focusing on my CCR, which will take a long time to complete. We've also been trying to see how we can distinguish the quiz page but decided it will take a large amount of time to edit. I am keeping everything as is, such as cover page and table of contents that is talking about the quiz. It can be an extra subject on the magazine without being shown to create a more realistic magazine. I have 4 pages; I have started page 4 and will finish soon. Those 4 pages are mandatory and having a page 5 will cost us time we can be working on for the CCR.

Production process of CCR

Image
For the weekend I went to a beach house with my friends and decided this was the perfect chance to start my CCR. My initial idea was to film the sun rising but ended up waking up too late. I only filmed the beach part first. I decided to film myself walking toward the beach in time-lapse to add another digital format. Then I walked onto the beach and filmed the ocean in regular time then presented two of my friends, chilling on the sand showing the teen girl statement in my CCR. In the end, I presented myself as well. Today I just filmed the beach and haven’t edited anything yet. The behind the scenes:

New CCR idea

Image
My idea for the CCR was to have a summer-like CCR since my magazine was both about summer and winter but wanted to go for the summer approach. Since I live in Florida and all. I wanted to film on the beach showing the waves as a calming background effect and then edit some pictures in etc. I was thinking of adding my friends talking and laughing to show for a teen girl effect on the sand. I will be talking throughout the whole thing, answering the questions as a voiceover checking off another digital format. I will also add beach wave sounds as I edit as another digital format.  My idea of what I will be filming:

Ideas about CCR

Image
I started to think of some ideas about the CCR. I thought of a creative and fun way I could do it. I will appear on my TV screen as a news reporter on the news channel talking about my magazine. I can achieve this by filming my TV screen in my living room and adding a green screen to my video. Then, set up a video of me talking about my magazine and editing my video of me onto the TV screen . Then a voice-over of me telling the reporter my answer. I decided to also dismiss that idea because I don't know how to edit that sort of thing. Now I'm in the process of thinking of a new idea. This is how I wanted it to look like:

Scheduling interview

Image
Today, my partner and I are scheduling our interview with my mom and my aunt. We are planning on taking a video of them answering the questions. After we gain all the information I need for the magazine I can finally start the page. I'm thinking about doing different passages for each question on the page. To answer the question, I will probably quote exactly what she said and also add my input.  My questions will be:  1. What are some common skincare mistakes girls make when switching up their routine for different seasons? 2. What is the best skincare treatment that you would recommend during the winter months? 3. What are some good ways to stay fresh and control sweat or oil on your skin without over-cleansing in the summer heat?  Some inspirational photos are:
